This article portrays the use of a design of experiments to determine how each experimental condition (pyrolysis temperature, base concentration, and activation temperature) and their correlation would affect the properties of activated carbons (from sugarcane bagasse), produced using a solid-state reaction. The results indicated the successful production of activated carbons of surface areas higher than 1400 m2 g-1.

The alkaloid fractions of Fusaea longifolia showed high anti-Plasmodium activity and moderate cytotoxic activity. Through characterization via liquid chromatography coupled to mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS) and using molecular networks, these fractions proved to be promising sources of isoquinoline alkaloids. Based on the molecular docking approach, these alkaloids demonstrated inhibition potential against target enzymes of the Plasmodium falciparum parasite.

This study investigates the impact of solvent media on the structural and optical behaviors of two isomers of thiazine derivatives. We analyze the effects of relocating the NO2 group within the isomers and its implications on molecular geometries, optical parameters, and gap energies across different solvent environments. Bond dissociation energy calculations and various analytical insights further contribute to our understanding of these derivatives.
