The work will be carried out in the research group of prof. Zdenek Sofer (www.sofergroup.cz) at the University of Chemistry and Technology Prague (UCT Prague), Czechia. The recruited students will be enrolled in the PhD programme, funded by the Czech Science Foundation (GAÄŒR) at UCT Prague.
PhD Research Summary
Research is in the field of:
2D materials CVD deposition, crystal growth or fabrication of nanoelectronics and optoelectronic devices. Advanced characterization of 2D materials by microscopy, electrical and spectroscopic methods.
Energy storage with focus on batteries and supercapacitors.
Description
The researchers will explore the crystal growth of novel 2D materials and fabrication of devices and their characterization by mechanical exfoliation methods for applications in nano- and opto- electronic. The second topic will focus on applications of materials in energy storage including supercapacitors and lithium batteries.
Job Requirements
University degree (MSc degree or equivalent) in physics or chemistry.
Experimental background in research areas related to 2D materials synthesis (crystals/thin film growth), applications in electronic devices (FET, photodetectors, printed electronic) or in energy storage/catalysis.
Well-organised, motivated researcher with excellent communication skills.
Very good command of written and spoken English.
We Offer
Full-time contract for 48 months.
Work on the individual research topic described above.
Access to state-of-the-art equipment for 2D material research.
Enrolment in a 4-year PhD programme in Inorganic Chemistry.
Competitive salary.
Employee benefits including 6 weeks of vacation and catering allowance.
