Fentoquímica: acompanhando
reações químicas em tempo real
In the last twenty years Chemical Dynamics has emerged as a strong area in Chemistry.
Its foundations deals with the mechanisms and time scales involved in the breaking and
making of a chemical bond. We present here theoretical studies of the dynamics of
molecular processes illustrated with examples of H transfer reactions, unimoleculat
decomposition and molecular excitation.
More recently theorists and experimentalists are turning their interest toward
controlling molecular processes rather than just explaining them. The fast progress in
the development of high power ultrashort pulse lasers offers many interesting
applications of real time observation of chemical reactions and control of its yields.
This oppened a new branch of Chemical Dynamics called Femtochemistry caracterized by
femtosecond time scale. We also present simulations of laser control of molecular
photodissociation and review recent experimental applications. Some new perspectives
and possibilities of industrial applications are also disscused.
