The coordinators of several chemistry graduate courses of Brazil assembled on July 27 and 28 in Florianópolis by request of the Capes Area Representative, Prof. Jairton Dupont. Members of the Capes Evaluation Committee were present and the course data for the period of 2004-2006 were presented to complement the area evaluation process. Additionally, topics relevant for graduate courses were debated. They will be further discussed in the 7th Chemistry Graduate Course Workshop to be held in São Paulo, SP on November 8-9th.
By request of the Coordinators and the Area Representative, the SBQ Graduate Forum has made the material presented in the Florianópolis Meeting by the course coordinators available on line.

7th Chemistry Graduate Course Workshop
November 08-09, 2007

On November 08 and 09, 2007, the 7th Chemistry Graduate Course Workshop was held at the facilities of the Conselho Regional de Química - 4a Região (CRQ - 4a Região) in São Paulo. Coordinators and representatives of 48 graduate courses were present, which corresponds to 79% of the total number of chemistry courses. The president of the Sociedade Brasileira de Química, Prof. Antônio S Mangrish, also attended the meeting, along with Capes Chemistry Area Representative, Prof. Jairton Dupont, members of the Capes Evaluation Committee, members of the SBQ Board of Directors and Council, and teachers from several institutions.
The main topics discussed, graduate course funding, the evaluation of Graduate courses, academic review of graduate courses, graduate course mobility, led to several proposals, which will be divulged shortly. The Workshop Organizing Commission thanks the presence, the participation, and the contribution of all for the success of this event.
