Posicionamento da SBQ sobre inclusão e diversidade nas ciências químicas
A diversidade é a nossa força e riqueza.
A comunidade química mundial foi surpreendida recentemente por declarações inconcebíveis em um artigo científico*, relacionando a diversidade da força de trabalho como fator negativo, não meritório, para o desenvolvimento do conhecimento científico.
Atitudes e ações racistas, homofóbicas, sexistas e discriminatórias contra a comunidade LGBTQI+ têm surgido com uma frequência preocupante em vários meios da sociedade nacional e mundial e, infelizmente, a comunidade científica em geral e a química, em particular, não estão livres dessa questão.
A Sociedade Brasileira de Química se junta a outras sociedades científicas de todo o mundo para reafirmar a sua crença na diversidade, no respeito aos direitos da pessoa humana, porque acredita que a diversidade e a igualdade de oportunidades fortalecem a criatividade em ciência e garantem a inclusão de todos na resolução dos desafios científicos que podem levar a soluções para os problemas que afligem a humanidade.
Nesse espírito, a SBQ se compromete a contribuir, trabalhar incessantemente e divulgar iniciativas que visem erradicar atitudes discriminatórias de qualquer natureza na comunidade química brasileira.

Statement of the SBQ on inclusion and diversity in the chemical sciences
Diversity is our force and richness.
The global chemical community was recently surprised by inconceivable statements in a scientific article*, relating the diversity of the workforce as a negative, unworthy factor in the development of scientific knowledge.
Racist, homophobic, sexist, and discriminatory attitudes and actions against the LGBTQI+ community have arisen with worrying frequency in various media at the national and global levels, and unfortunately the scientific community in general and the chemical community in particular are not free from this issue.
The Brazilian Chemical Society joins other chemical societies on the planet to reaffirm our belief in diversity, in the respect for the rights of the human person, because we believe that diversity and equal opportunities strengthen creativity in science and guarantee the inclusion of everyone in the resolution of the scientific challenges that may lead to solutions for the problems that afflict humanity.
In this spirit, the SBQ pledges to contribute, ceaselessly work, and divulge initiatives aimed at eradicating discriminatory attitudes of any nature in the Brazilian chemical community.
